About
I’m Chia, the strategist and designer behind Studio Sunday.
After years working across research, strategy, and design at agencies, I realized the overlap was the point — and started Studio Sunday to put all three to work in a more focused, nimble way.
Background
For nearly 15 years, I’ve worked as some combination of researcher, strategist, and designer, often all three at once.
My career began as a Creative Strategist at NSG/SWAT, a role that sat between strategy and design, before I moved into qualitative research at Now What. There, I wrote discussion guides, moderated focus groups, and turned hours of consumer research into insights and strategic direction.
Then I joined Sylvain Labs (now Sylvain) as its first designer, working fluidly across strategy and design on brand and innovation projects. The work was design-intensive, and the team was wonderful.
Later, as Director of Strategy & Design at Freshmade, my role broadened — from client work into leadership, internal systems, and shaping new ways of working. I started Studio Sunday in 2019, bringing that mix of strategy and design into an independent creative practice.
The result is a hybrid skill set that spans research, strategy, and design. Different titles, different disciplines, but it all adds up to a useful combination: research deeply, think strategically, and design thoughtfully.

Education
I’ve always gravitated toward the sweet spot between business, strategy, and design. My academic background at a glance:
The Studio
Despite the name, Studio Sunday was never about taking it easy. Sunday has often been the extra day for thinking, researching, and going a little further than the brief requires. That same idea shapes the studio today.
Studio Sunday is small by design. I work directly with clients, bringing research, clear objectives, and a bias toward clarity to every project. I go deep where it matters, listen closely to what clients already know, and look for the insight that unlocks the work.
I also freelance with agencies and in-house teams when they need senior strategy and creative support, and bring in trusted collaborators when the work benefits from another perspective or specialty. That might mean a writer, illustrator, developer, or just another good brain in the room.
